Gael Garcia Bernal
2013: Motorcycle Diaries star Gael García Bernal was already a Mexican TV soap opera heart-throb when, aged 19, he left Mexico to study at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama. He first came to international attention with the award-winning Amores Perros in 2002. The film was a massive hit and turned García Bernal into an overnight A-list star. He has since starred in countless films including Y tu mamá también and El crimen del Padre Amaro. His theatre work includes Lorca’s Bodas de Sangre at London’s Almeida Theatre in 2005.
In 2004, García Bernal starred as Che Guevara in the acclaimed The Motorcycle Diaries for which he received a BAFTA Best Actor nomination. He has donated a pair of Oakley boots (size 9) to Small Steps Project.
Gael said, “These are the shoes that i wore while traveling for a year without coming come. Not only these of course, but these are the protagonists. I hope they raise money to help children in need.”
