Nicholaus Arson

 

Nicholaus Arson is the guitarist of Swedish band The Hives and is known for his wild and animated performances.  Nicholaus founded the band with his brother in 1993 and they have since released 5 albums. This year they were on the bill for The Other Stage at Glastonbury as well the Hurricane Festival.

It feels like the world is burning. In many countries it literally is, and those taking the brunt are children.
Over the last year we have been supporting a centre for @dandora_waste_pickers children on Dandora Dump site in Nairobi, Kenya. Here children can take a break from the dump, wash, play, learn and eat. We also provide protective shoes for all of them. There are 200 children in total, 70 of which have been supported back into school by our partners @thejuafoundation
Recently the centre was demolished but we have found a new location close by, that we are about to renovate, so that all these children can continue to take small steps off the landfill.
It`s an amazing project powered by female leaders including @joyce_wangari_kari @chemiteijanet @nastynewyorkers (who also provided these photos)

Even though the weather in Gaza is warmer, we still have lots of tiny booties to make for all the preemie babies in NICU. So please donate just £5 to continue to help us help them regulate their temperatures.
Our baby boots campaign provides hand crocheted baby boots to hospitals and all our partners to reach every pre term baby in Gaza. They are hand made by mums in Gaza @babyboots4pal ❤️

As well as providing thousands of babies with formula and nappies, our partner org on the ground @gazaformulafund has distributed baby boots, winter onesies, food parcels, water and blankets to families and this weekend, they added shoes for siblings to the list of aid they have distributed.
Together we provided shoes for over 100 children either barefoot or with broken shoes surviving in the harshest tent camps in Gaza.
Prices and needs are always high but together we continue to buy items on the ground in Gaza instead of waiting for aid to get through the boarders.
So please consider donating to a smaller charity like ours where 💯 of your donations really are spent in Gaza and directly reach Gazans most in need.

In Masaka Uganda, we have a new education reintegration project. Here are just 2 of the 50 children whose lives have been transformed by taking small steps off the dump and into school.

We are currently looking for match funding to increase this support to 100 children!

The 1st & 2nd photos are of 11 year old Janet, an orphan who lives with her elderly grandma. Before joining the program she worked alongside her grandma on the dump site. But now she`s at school and dreams of being a doctor so she can take care of her grandma. Until she succeeds we take care of both of them.

The 2nd & 3rd photos are of 9 year-old Faswila. Before joining the program she stayed at home to look after her baby sister while her mum worked on the dump site. Now she`s at school and we take care of he sister at our crèche, providing free child care so her mum can go to work.

In Korrogocho slums over 135 children have received new school shoes (and socks!)

Shoes are the most expensive part of the uniform and often the fastest to be outgrown. So providing this support to children takes a big financial burden off struggling families, helps children stay in education and take those steps into school with pride and dignity.

Thanks to our partners on the ground @kombgreen we are able up make sure that no children are barefoot and prevented from taking small steps off the dump site and into education.

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a very dear and loved member of the Small Steps Project Family. James Ng`ang`a Wakaba has brought joy to the children at @greenstepsproject for over 7 years. He taught us all the values of respect, hard work and kindness, always with a smile.
He grew up in Ngong, where, like many of the children, he supported his family, yet he still finished his education and then returned the project to inspire a whole generation of children.
He tragically passed on April 6th in a fatal road accident at just 25 years old.
Tomorrow on Tuesday 14th he will be laid to rest in the estate of Zambia in Ngong. The children of green steps will be in attendance.
He will be missed so much by everyone.

Our youngest new walkers all got their first pairs of trainers/sneakers today, to protect their little feet from the rubbish they walk through every day, on their way to our day care.
We provide free preschool from 4 months old for babies and toddlers in Ngong slums, so that their mums can go to work and older siblings can stay in school.
