Tracey Thorn

Singer, songwriter, Tracey Thorn’s musical career began in the 1980s as a founding member of The Marine Girls before forming Everything but the Girl with husband Ben Watt. Over the course of two decades the duo released 10 albums and their stream of indie electronic singles including Each and Everyone, Night and Day, Don’t Leave Me Behind and I Don’t Want to talk About It became the soundtrack to an era.  Their biggest chart success came in 1995 with the remix of the track Missing which became a worldwide mega hit.

Following a hiatus during which she swapped music for motherhood, Tracey returned with her second solo album, Out of the Woods, followed by Love and its Opposites, Tinsel and Lights and her fifth solo album was released in 2018 delivering what she calls “nine feminist bangers”.

A successful writer, Tracey’s memoir Bedsit Disco Queen was met with critical acclaim, she writes a fortnightly column called Off the Record for the New Statesman magazine and her most recent book, Naked at the Albert Hall, explores the power of singing.
